An almost alright flat
Little transformation of an apartment, Torino 2019

First home for a young man, in a humble building from the 1950s.
The interior, in fair condition, has remained in its original state,
It looks like a real estate ad: bedroom, dining room, kitchenette, bathroom.
The room is large, the bathroom and dining area are small, the kitchenette is tiny. The budget, low.

The space is not ugly and it is not beautiful, but it is almost adequate to the needs.
With very small localized interventions, the project simply tries to rebalance the size of the spaces, adapting them to a more contemporary use.
The width of the bedroom is used to insert a raised storage volume, which embraces the bed and also houses the new kitchen. Moving the latter from the original kitchenette frees up space, which is used to extend the bathroom and the living room, which becomes large enough to house both a sofa and a dining area, curved, near the window of the former kitchenette.
